A Rich History of Service and Community

Founded in 1926, the West Los Angeles Buddhist Temple was originally established as one of the branches of the Los Angeles Hompa Hongwanji Buddhist Temple. Before the creation of this temple, there was no official Buddhist organization to meet the religious and spiritual needs of the Buddhist community in the West Los Angeles area. Our founding members, driven by a vision of unity and spiritual connection, worked together to build a temple that would serve generations of Buddhists. Over the years, the temple has grown to become a key part of the local community, offering a space where all individuals are welcome to learn, practice, and share in the teachings of the Buddha.

Our Mission and Purpose
