About Us – Puppy Power Dog Resort

Puppy Power Dog Resort started in 2003 with a simple but powerful idea: to create a dog resort that prioritizes personalized care for every pet, without charging pet parents excessive fees. My journey began with a business plan for a small, customized facility in Kirby, Texas, driven by my love for animals and a deep understanding of what pets and pet owners need. As a pet parent myself, I recognized that traditional dog resorts were often impersonal and overpriced. I wanted to create a space that would combine a variety of services, like boarding, grooming, and daycare, but offer them in a smaller, more intimate setting, ensuring that each dog would receive the best possible care.

The Mission: Affordable, High-Quality Care

From the very beginning, our mission has been clear: we wanted to ensure that dogs would have everything they need to be comfortable, happy, and healthy, without the burden of extra charges. Every dog is unique and deserves special attention based on their individual needs, and at Puppy Power Dog Resort, we offer just that. We designed our resort to integrate multiple pet-care services, all under one roof, making it easier and more convenient for pet owners while maintaining high standards of care.

Overcoming Adversity

Just five years into our journey, things took an unexpected turn. In late 2008, I became very ill and had to temporarily close the resort while undergoing several years of heart surgeries and health complications. The challenges were tough, but I never lost my determination to reopen the resort once I regained my health.

In 2013, after undergoing a successful artificial heart valve transplant, I was finally able to begin my recovery process. While my health had suffered, my passion for providing quality care for animals remained strong. I used this time to plan and remodel the resort, ensuring that when the doors reopened, Puppy Power would be better than ever.

A New Beginning in 2015

After years of hard work and determination, I was finally able to reopen Puppy Power Dog Resort in June 2015. This time, I had the help of Bree, a master dog groomer who brought her expertise and love for animals to the team. Together, we began the exciting process of growing the resort to offer even more exceptional services to our furry guests.

Growth and Expansion

Puppy Power’s success over the following years allowed us to expand our space. In just three short years, we moved to a larger building in Kirby with more parking and an additional indoor play yard to complement our outdoor area. What started as a small dream grew into a full-fledged resort with an expanded team of 18 dedicated associates, including four skilled professional groomers.

Celebrating 11 Years in 2025

This June, we will celebrate our 11th anniversary in business, and we couldn’t be prouder of the journey we’ve been on. Over the years, we have gained a loyal following, both in the local community and on social media. Our customers are the heart of everything we do, and we’re honored to have so many wonderful families entrust us with their pets’ care.
