About Animal Haven
Animal Haven is not your typical animal shelter; we’re a thriving community of animal welfare advocates committed to enhancing the lives of homeless pets. Our skilled rehabilitation and training team, along with our passionate staff, volunteers, and supporters, ensure that every animal in our care receives the best possible support and enrichment from the moment they arrive. We are also a lifelong friend and resource for animals and their adopters, offering continuous support whenever needed.
Our Accreditation
Animal Haven is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a prestigious four-star rating from Charity Navigator. We are also authorized by the State of New York Department of Agriculture and Markets as a New York State Registered Shelter/Rescue (Registration No. RR086). This recognition highlights our commitment to maintaining high standards of care and transparency in our operations.
Our History
Founded in 1967, Animal Haven has been a trusted expert in the animal rescue world, serving the New York City Tri-State area for over five decades. Our dedication to providing top-notch care, including behavior intervention, enrichment outings, and ongoing support after adoption, makes us one of the most respected and preferred pet adoption organizations in the region.
Our Programs
In addition to our crucial shelter and adoption services, Animal Haven offers a range of programs designed to enrich the lives of the animals under our care and benefit the pets and people in our community.
Training & Rehabilitation
At Animal Haven, we are committed not only to saving the lives of homeless pets but also to enriching those lives and providing key resources to adopters. Our Training & Rehabilitation program ensures that pets are well-prepared for their new homes, promoting healthy and happy lives for both pets and their families.
Recovery Road Fund
Our Recovery Road Fund provides critical care for animals in need, whether it’s lifesaving surgery or a simple procedure to alleviate pain and discomfort. This program ensures that every animal receives the medical attention they require to live a comfortable and healthy life.
Camp Underdog
Camp Underdog is a transformative program offering long-term dog residents much-needed breaks from shelter life. Through various activities and outings, dogs in this program receive the mental and physical stimulation they need to thrive while awaiting their forever homes.
Community Engagement Program
Animal Haven’s Community Engagement Program supports hundreds of pet guardians each year who are at risk of losing their animals due to unexpected crises such as domestic violence, housing emergencies, and illness. We provide resources and assistance to ensure that pets and their owners can stay together during challenging times.
