About Westover Hills Church

We invite you to join us in person or online for our weekend services. We gather on Saturdays at 6 PM and Sundays at 9:30 & 11:30 AM. At Westover Hills Church, we are all about creating an atmosphere that welcomes everyone—regardless of where you are on your faith journey. Our mission is to follow Jesus and love people, and our weekend services reflect that. We are passionate about providing a space for worship, growth, and connection for people of all ages and backgrounds.

Our services are designed to be dynamic and engaging, filled with inspirational music and messages from the Bible. They typically last about an hour, and we believe you’ll leave feeling uplifted, encouraged, and ready to take on the week ahead. Whether you’re visiting for the first time or you’ve been attending for years, you’ll find something special every time you join us.

Ministries for Children and Youth

At Westover Hills, we prioritize families, and that starts with our children and youth. We believe kids should have a blast as they learn about God. During all of our weekend services, we offer age-appropriate, fun, and safe environments for children of all ages. From infants to pre-teens, we have a program that’s designed to help them grow spiritually in a way that makes sense for them.

History of Westover Hills Church

Westover Hills Church began with humble beginnings in 1986 when Pastor Jim and Denise Rion felt led to plant a church in San Antonio. The first service was held in a rented store-front building on Culebra Road, and the church was known as “Ingram Assembly of God.” The community quickly grew, and soon Pastor Jim and the congregation recognized the need for a permanent home.

The church leadership decided to move to Westover Hills, a then undeveloped area of San Antonio. At the time, no one could have predicted how rapidly this area would develop into one of the country’s fastest-growing communities. As the church continued to grow, a new Worship Center was built in 1999. This new facility tripled the seating capacity of the original auditorium to accommodate the growing congregation.

In 2010, Westover Hills took a significant step by launching a Spanish service to reach the Spanish-speaking population of San Antonio. In February 2014, the church opened a brand-new 2,200-seat auditorium equipped with state-of-the-art technology. Today, Westover Hills is recognized as one of the 100 largest churches in the nation, a testament to God’s faithfulness and the vision of the church leaders.

Our Core Values

At Westover Hills Church, we have identified key values that guide our decisions and shape our culture. These values are the foundation of our ministry and mission:

A Bigger Heaven is a Better Heaven

We believe that Heaven is more glorious when more people are there. That’s why we share Christ with everyone, in hopes of expanding Heaven by bringing others into the family of God.

We Are Better Together

Life with Jesus is better when it’s shared with others. We emphasize the importance of building relationships and community in Christ. We encourage everyone to find support and friendship within our church family.

Saved People Serve People

Serving others is a reflection of our faith. We believe that when we are saved, we are called to serve those around us. Whether it’s giving our time, talent, or resources, we seek to serve others generously.

Strong Faith Builds Strong Families

Our faith is the bedrock of strong families. We invest in marriages, children, and students, recognizing that a solid foundation of faith in the home is vital for future generations.

It’s Good to Grow

We believe that God loves us too much to leave us where we are. Spiritual growth is a continuous journey, and we are committed to maturing in our faith, learning, and becoming more like Christ every day.

Get Connected

At Westover Hills, we want you to find a place where you can grow, serve, and connect. Whether you’re looking for a small group, volunteer opportunities, or just a way to meet others, there are many ways to get involved. We believe that the church is a family, and everyone has a place here. Getting connected is one of the best ways to deepen your faith and experience the love and support of the community.

Our Denomination

Westover Hills Church is part of the Assemblies of God (AG) denomination, a worldwide fellowship of Pentecostal Christians. The Assemblies of God was founded in 1914 in Hot Springs, Arkansas, with 300 people at the founding convention. Today, the AG is the world’s largest Pentecostal denomination, with over 69 million members globally and 13,004 churches across the United States.
