After years of experience in retail and merchandising, Liz Leatherbury, the founder of Bird and Pear, realized there was a gap in the market for home accessories and gifts that captured the spirit of South Texas. Searching for items that made her smile, she stumbled upon the beauty of Mexican dresses – colorful, 100% cotton, and full of vibrant designs like flowers, butterflies, and birds. These dresses inspired her to create handmade items that are not only fun and beautiful but also practical. With a focus on items that hold up to daily life, Bird and Pear was born.

A Tribute to San Antonio’s History

In 2016, Bird and Pear was invited by the City of San Antonio to introduce its unique line of products in a pop-up shop located in one of the city’s oldest neighborhoods. With a deep respect for San Antonio’s rich history and culture, Bird and Pear became a refreshing oasis amidst the sea of souvenir shops and mass-market retailers downtown.
