Founded in 1982, The Gondola Getaway was established with a singular vision: to bring the old-world charm of the gondola back to the canals of Naples Islands. Inspired by the traditional Venetian gondola rides, we have dedicated ourselves to recreating a true Venetian experience, transporting our guests to a world of romance, tranquility, and history.

Gondolas were first introduced to the canals of Naples Islands in 1903, when the area was developed into a Venetian-style neighborhood with grand canals and romantic bridges. The Gondola Getaway proudly carries on this legacy, offering an authentic gondola experience that has been cherished by hundreds of thousands of guests over the years. We honor the traditions of Venice, bringing them to Alamitos Bay in Long Beach.

To ensure the authenticity of our gondola rides, we train our team by traveling to Venice each year. For the past 33 years, we have participated in the prestigious Venetian rowing races, making us the only American team to do so. Our gondoliers return with invaluable stories and techniques that enrich every ride and enhance the experience we offer. We also import unique Venetian crafts and techniques that are exclusive to our gondola rides in Alamitos Bay, Long Beach.
